Comment: Everything was amazing. Fair prices for a meal and 2 sides (wish there were options for sides as these werent my favorite). I got the unagi udon and was not disappointed! The atmosphere is incredible and the garden/museum area is worth checking out! I imagine it is amazing in the summer out there!

Comment: So glad Domo is back! The limited menu is really nice as it includes their best sellers and simplifies things. The curry dish was bursting with flavor and so comforting. Definitely recommend it with the pork cutlets. The curry udon soup with chicken in comparison fell flat but was still good - the flavor was a bit bland but that could be bc I had my mind blown by the curry flavor of the Japanese curry dish. Huge portions, you will have leftovers. Each dish came with a noodle side and another taste of something I couldn’t put my finger on and a miso soup. Can’t beat that for just under $16. The ginger green tea is delish - slightly sweet with a surprising ginger bite and spice.

Comment: Beautiful experience all around. Gorgeous setting and garden even in winter time, the food was glorious! So good on a cold Denver evening. I tried to not be too annoying sneakily snapping pictures of the setting when I could. It was a very comfy place to eat at and enjoy scenery and flavors. Will return and recommend to as many people as I can!

Comment: TLDR: gorgeous, friendly shop with sadly bland foodA gorgeous shop serving some of the only, TRULY, bones-and-all authentic japanese cuisine in Denver. Very much food from the cold north; low salt, low spice, delicate flavors that center on the natural taste of the veggies and meats. If you’re coming here for a date, truly healthy food, or calm, friendly, deeply Japanese atmosphere, this is the place for you.The food, though… the food. I wanted to like it, I really did. I had the chef’s favorite, Buta Nabe with toasted rice. It was calm, soothing, and really took me back to cold winters and hot soup from my years in Asia. The textures were impeccable, the ingredients fresh, and the flavors are… bland. I persevered, knowing my taste buds could be poorly calibrated, and for a minute I could kinda see what the chef was going for- but by the end of the meal it was loathsome. It’s like the chef is personally allergic to salt, spice, herbs, anything besides the most delicate aromatics. Cannot recommend and unless I have a reason, I can’t say I’ll be back. Sorry Domo. I wanted to love you. 😢

Comment: Amazing doesn’t even begin to describe this wonderful establishment. Domo is a breath of fresh air in a city whose food scene has become increasingly pretentious and expensive. A Denver staple for decades, Domo is the destination for a truly authentic, quality and affordable experience. The owner is a true humanitarian who has been giving back to both the local Denver and international community for years. I’m so happy they were able to reopen and continue serving Denverites amazing dishes. Thank you, Domo for the years of truly meaningful memories.

Comment: Unique and warming food and setting. I cant say Ive been anywhere like it. Ive never had tonyu udon, with its tomato and soy milk base, rich tasting and perfect for a cold Denver afternoon. The interior of the restaurant and the gardens and dojo transported and welcomed us. It was a settling experience after the stimulation of visiting Meow Wolfe ;-)

Comment: If you want authentic Japanese food, this is your place! We had tried this place before their temporary closure, and it was great. Came back recently for lunch and it was even better since there was no crazy wait to get a table. We had the Japanese chicken curry and beef donburi as mains, and also tried the shumai and gyoza appetizers. All delicious!

Comment: I was shocked by how gorgeous this place is. Super traditional and simple japanese homey foods with simple prices. But the quality of the food is so clean and so hearty. I had the spicy tuna bowl, my other half had the pork katsu curry, and we shared some appetizers, and all were HITS. This was my first time dining here, and I just love this place so much. They only serve lunch and a handful of things off their regular menu because they are just reopened, trying to recover from the economic hit we all suffered. Support this place! It has artifacts and historical scenes and decor.

Nestled in the heart of Downtown Denver, this rustic haven is beautifully decorated with extensive gardens you can walk through. The menu is limited but offers traditional Japanese comfort foods. Comment: We started coming here over 10 years ago and always love our meals. The Ramen is the best in Denver, and the ambiance is exceptional and unique. It was heartbreaking when they shut down for rennovations and to take a break after they became overwhelmed by a viral review of how great this place is. The pictures below are of all the meals on the lunch menu plus the apps. The only thing not shown is the edemame. So very happy, grateful, and feeling blessed that they are back! Our whole family wishes them peace, happiness, and long-lasting prosperity.

Comment: A little slice of Japan. I love when you enter, they traditionally say irasshaimase to welcome you. The interior is truly like stepping into Japan, its beautiful and thoughtfully articulated over the course of nearly 3 decades.Since reopening, they do have a limited menu but the items are just as tasty as always. Furthermore, the portions are generous and nobody is going home hungry.Ive tried the Nabeyaki Udon and Pork Cutlet Japanese Curry. Both dishes are very authentic and delicious. The Udon broth is addicting. And the pork cutlet was perfectly crispy. I also love one of their most recent sides, broccoli with Hijiki seaweed. So good, cant really find that anywhere else in Denver. All this, and a meal is only $14.50. What a steal.

Comment: We got here and were looking forward to experiencing everything that everyone had been talking about only to find out that it has been closed. It’s sad that the owner didn’t restructure the place to meet the demand as it relates to the food. My take is that the owner should reconsider, and with parameters, reopening this place and setting limits on the number of dishes served in order to keep the highest quality of food. Hoping that he finds it in him someday, while still alive, to continue to share his food with many that clearly miss this place.

Comment: We finally had a chance to visit Domo and the atmosphere and hospitality were fantastic! I also deeply appreciate the attention to detail, they asked us about allergies, and even though I love Japanese food, I am allergic to fish. When I brought this up and also asked which dishes didnt have Dashi they were able to point out what I could eat. In my case I settled on the chicken teriyaki and you know what? 10/10 probably the best chicken teriyaki Ive had in a long time.Absolutely would go here again and the old world charm of the Japanese decor was a wonderful adventure out of the modern surroundings. Im in love, folks!

Comment: Domo is one of my favorite places to eat in CO. I take everyone who visits me to Domo. Its country Japanese cooking and theyre the only ones. The decor is awesome and made of real antiques. You must visit the DoJo and the bathrooms! Very cool atmosphere and knock out food.I dont recommend it for kids, no kid menu, seating, etc. I dont recommend if you have food allergies as they prefer to have it chef made. It is a little pricey, but worth it to me. Truly one of a kind.

Comment: A little taste of Japan. Restaurant decorations has a knack for transferring you back in time to the country side of Japan. Food tastes authentic and the drink choices could use more broadening. When visiting keep in mind you could be seated outside but even indoors its a bit chilly with all its doors outside open. Apparently this place has gotten popular due to social media so prepare for a wait as food is never rushed and made fresh. Really liked this place and made me miss Japan.

We opted to come early after reading so many reviews about the long waits. Right at 11:00 there were no other people waiting but by the time we left around 12:15 it was starting to fill up. We had excellent service. After, we looked at the museum which was similar to museums we have seen in Japan as well. It was really nice and I am so impressed at how closely everything was to Japan!! 10/10

Comment: This place was excellent. The atmosphere was wonderful, with outdoor seating in a Japanese garden with running water, and tons of cultural artifacts around. Very immersive. They had two types of saki, both of which were excellent, and all the food we tried was incredible. Lots of impressively good seafood for Colorado. We split 2 appetizers and 2 bottles of saki between 5 people, each got an entree, and most of us had enough left over to take home.

Comment: This might be a 5 star place prior to covid but with covid it was less special. At least at dinner time, when you arrive you go in and put your name on a list and then go back to your car and they’ll call you. The whole restaurant smelled like chemical cleaner so that was tough to get past. The portions are HUGE but the ramen we had was just OK. Agree with other reviews the ambiance is kind of lackluster due to covid.

Comment: This is my second time coming here and I love it, the food is great, the small plates are perfect and the atmosphere is my favorite of any restaurant in Denver. The kimchi ramen was todays dish and I wanted to complement the chef on the kimchi- it was soooo good! Price wise they are very reasonable: for 2 people with drinks and tea and 2 entrees it was under 50$

Comment: The atmosphere was the best I’ve seen in all of Denver, possibly the best I’ve seen anywhere all year; we loved dining in a beautifully tended Japanese garden. While the food was good, it fell short of excellence, thought I suspect this is due to their menu format change via the pandemic.

Comment: Having gone to Japan, this place is a hidden gem amongst its peers. One of the most authentic places in Colorado (If the Aikido school next to it wasnt evident enough.) This place has my vote for those that wish to be immersed in the Japanese culture. They even provide small peices of paper, with instructions on how to eat the dishes you may get. Its hidden away, out of sight and pretty unassuming, but a diamond in the rough.

Comment: Beautiful and serene spot. I was in awe of the decor of the restaurant and gardens. Food was decent as well. I ordered the tsukemen ramen (dipping noodles) and it was a healthy portion! Also for apps, my friend and I ordered the spicy salmon poke (very fresh) and iza yaki (calamari) I only wished I could see the place during the day!

Comment: Domo is wonderful country style Japanese food joint. One of the few places in Denver that has stellar ramen broth with depth of flavor ( you know what Im talkin bout!). They keep things fresh with new specials and I love the side dishes that are very similar to Korean banchan. Servers are always friendly. This is not a vegan friendly menu.

Comment: This was one of the most authentic Japanese places I have ever been to. The food was remarkable and the service was perfect. It is not upscale by any means and is somewhat casual but that is what makes it perfect in my opinion. They bring little trays for purses to sit on so they dont have to be on the floor. I loved the little things like that, it was just what I needed after a busy weekend in the city. The portions are massive and easily shareable. I would suggest ordering two things to split (between two people) so you can try two items! The teriyaki sauce they make is phenomenal and something you should give a shot if you get the chance. Keep an open mind when you go in because it is so good but very true to Japanese culture. If you are in the area and want a good meal I would absolutely recommend Domo!

Comment: Definitely a cool spot in Denver. Very authentic Japanese food and environment. Ramen, Curry and Katsudon were all top notch. Theres a cool outside garden area as well as a museum in a building adjacent to the main restaurant.Only complaint is the menu, definitely needs another editing pass to make more readable. Has about four different formats and fonts with a metric ton of extraneous info. Definitely not worth docking a star, but a nice place like this deserves to have a better menu.Would heavily recommend and looking forward to coming back in the summer to enjoy the garden. Just try looking at the menu before you head in to avoid potential delays at your table.

Comment: I went here with my husband and two-year old. We had a great experience. The waitstaff were all very welcoming and we loved the design of the restaurant (both in architecture and decor). The food we had was all delicious, and out of all of the Japanese restaurants we have been to in America, the food here tasted the most authentic to what we had on our trips to Japan. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would love to visit again the next time we are in Denver.

Comment: Even if the food wasnt amazing (it is), the ambiance and setting alone would earn Domo some stars. However the food is absolutely incredible. Its filling, surprising (always pleasantly), thoughtfully crafted, and beautifully plated.I wouldnt recommend Domo if you are looking for a quick bite. With the decor and dishes like traditional dipping noodles, its plain to see that their goal here isnt just to sell you food alone. Rather they are satisfying all your senses, making you comfortable, and ensuring every aspect of the dinner experience is considered and tweaked to please. It stands alone amongst restaurants in Denver, and it was opened before the city was considered cool. If youre looking for something special, or an impressive dinner destination for guests, its a sure win.Bonus: once warm, you can even eat in their beautiful Japanese garden. This place is unreal.

Comment: I love that their menu changes with the seasons, and there are some lovely rustic dishes that are of a very different style than your usual run-of-the-mill Japanese restaurant. The setting is fantastic as well, with the lovely garden outside, which you can still explore in the winter, but is more comfortable to sit in in the summer, and the museum of Japanese country tools and implements.I was especially impressed with the Saba nuggets, mackerel covered in panko and deep fried, and it was more for the garnish of *real* wasabi (most wasabi in regular restaurants is cut with horseradish and dyed green). This stuff was buttery smooth, pale green, and while still hot it wasnt the same harsh pungency as American horseradish, it was the real thing, and Im wondering how they got it. The only place that grows it here in the US is in Oregon....We were there just before the turning of the year and they had an iron hot pot filled with good things, a ramen with a large slab of eel (unagi), and a soy milk based broth for ramen that was spicy and creamy and wonderful. I ordered the soy-milk ramen (Tonyu) with pork and it was so spicy my sinuses cleared, but the creamy broth was seasoned to perfection and the noodles had wonderful body and chew. The lunch menu and the dinner menu are pretty much equivalent, but the lunch prices are just a little bit less expensive, and they still have enormous portions, as you can see in the pictures. The mini unagi-don was actually of pretty good size, and still delicious.

Comment: We had an hour wait for a table of seven, which was fine with us. The decor was very unique! The chairs were stumps with leather coverings on them, so keep that in mind if youre sensitive to seating. They had a beautiful outdoor garden area that we saw from the parking lot. They only had about seven or eight parking spots but there was lots of street parking right outside. This was just a short walk to a station to hop on the line. They have a large menu that was a bit confusing. We were with friends who had been there before so they were able to help us order. The staff was busy but friendly. The side dishes and ramen were delicious. My only complaints were that my soda was never refilled and I drank it pretty early on in our visit. Also I had to ask for one of my ordered items three different times and they eventually just gave it to me in a to go container. The food was delicious and I would still recommend it!!

The menu can seem overwhelming at first, but there really isnt a bad option, so just go with it! As a rule, they do not accommodate any food allergies because they want to stay true to their recipe. They also do not accept reservations, but have some tables in the waiting area for you and your friends to hang out until your table is ready. Just make sure you go in there knowing that its not going to be fast service and youll be able to enjoy your time there.

I highly recommend going for lunch, their ramens are incredible.Today was a fluke, with bad service from an inattentive complacent waitress and under seasoned food, but as a restaurant person myself, I know all places have their days and dont necessarily deserve the slack, but a little understanding- especially Domo at their low price points.Give it a try- youre almost guaranteed to have a good experience- which they typically provide.Yes: ramen and tuna domboriNo: Saba nuggets

It is clear that dishes are rigorously prepared and there is a lot of attention to detail from a flavor profile standpoint. For many dishes you are not given soy sauce because it is not needed. Comment: The food was excellent. This was by far the best ramen that I had anywhere in Denver! And the prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality of food that you get. With that said, you might have to wait a while (30-45 min) for your food - the kitchen is very small. Also, the dining tables are very close together - somewhat similar to Hibachi style. Unless you are with a large group of people, you likely will be listening to the conversations of strangers sitting near you. Still, I would definitely recommend this place to anybody who likes Japanese cuisine.

Comment: Domo is a very unique dining experience and I think is much more enjoyable when you know what to expect. If youre look for a sushi restaurant, this isnt it. Their menu is overwhelming, page after page of items ranging from Donburi (rice and seafood), Katsu (fried cutlet), Japanese curry and ramen. We went for lunch and made sure to get there right at 11, by 11:20 every seat in the place was full. The food came quickly and we opted to try the Seafood Tonyu Ramen ($11.25) and Sukiyaki Beef Dashi Shoyu Ramen ($9.75), along with mini Donburis (salmon, $3.59 each). The ramen portions were HUGE, and while they were both good, the Seafood Tonyu was our clear favorite with lots of flavor and perfect spice. The lunch ramen is served with 3 country side dishes that were all tasty. The mini Donburi was okay, not anything extraordinary so I think next time wed stick with the Ramen. The restaurant has a unique ambiance, with what I image are traditional decorations and art. Ive heard in the summer their gardens are stunning. This is a good place to try if youre looking for something a little different then normal!

Comment: An experience that touched all the senses. Visually beautiful and tranquil, the sounds were so peaceful and calming, and the cuisine was a discovery of tradition that brought back memories of my childhood. Flavors of simplicity but leaving you so satisfied and plated to excite your curiosity. I highly recommend this restaurant for its fine cuisine and education of years of tradition.

Comment: Awesome food selections, truly tasty Japanese cousin! Definitely not a regular sushi/asian restaurant. Interior has been designed very interesting and you feel like you left the country. Outdoor Asian garden seating is outstanding, not the Colorado flora, felt like on vacation, didn’t feel like 5 min from downtown, they really know how to impress!Been there 4 times, last 2 times service was not as good as before. A lot of menu items needs attention from server and explanation on dishes. Maybe just got unlucky with new staff. If I’m ready to (leave town) and have a good food, that’s the place to go!

Comment: Great food and atmosphere. Service was slow and we had to ask for things mutiple times. In spite of the service, Ill keep going back. The quality of the food would have to take a nose dive for me to not keep going back. Be prepared to drop in the neighborhood of 100 dollars for a family of 4.

Comment: The closest we have to the beautiful countryside of Japan without leaving Denver. The menu is an intriguing challenge to navigate, but when you find your way, you feel accomplished...like you truly earned your meal. Do not overlook the Japanese garden, the aikido dojo, the historical museum, and the shrine. These are integral aspects to the experience. Domo does not only offer a unique culinary experience, but also a transformative atmosphere of cherry blossoms, tree stumps for chairs, and a crew of cooks who welcome you in Japanese from behind their kitchen curtains. This is my favorite place to eat and explore in Denver. If you have the opportunity, sit under the grape vine and take in every moment.

Comment: Delicious and a lot of food. We had never had Japanese, outside of sushi restaurants back home, and our server helped us figure out what we each would like. All 4 of us were full after an appetizer and entree each, and 3 of us had leftovers. The hibiscus tea was delicious as well. The atmosphere is also wonderful.

Comment: Good food. Interesting way of serving sushi thats unique, as are the country style sides served with the meal. They have a neat garden out back where we ate our meal. Love to come back to try other items on their menu, including some interesting noodle dishes.

Comment: Domo is definitely one of Denvers best restaurants. The menus are quite varied so you have to go about 73 times to get a real good taste of everything. And you wont regret it. Ive had many different things here and everything so far has been better than expected. The atmosphere inside is fantastic, and then you step out into the gardens and holy monkey! It is awesome! An absolutely wonderful experience when you combine the food, the atmosphere, and the staff. Oh yeah, the staff is great! Very friendly, patient, and theyre great at helping you navigate the menus and find something to suit your tastes. Excellent!

Comment: This is THE BEST place for traditional, true Japanese cuisine. My husband and I go here every time we pass through Denver. The staff are courteous. The ambience is beautiful and comfortable. The food is delicious! I wish they still had the beef teriyaki... we still dream of it, but their gattsuri beef special hits the spot. The ramen bowls are so good, but a little on the salty side. I LOVE the genmai tea. I cant wait to go back and keep trying more! The shrines, gardens, and museum area are fun to explore as well.

Comment: There are only a couple places in Denver I recommend for ramen and Domo is one of those! The broth here is second to none. And the beef is my recommendation to go with it. The menu here can be daunting, but explore until you find a go-to and this place will be second home in winter when you need the warmth only ramen can give. But the summer is not without its delight with the incredible garden setting. In the summer, it becomes an escape.

Comment: This is a fantastic restaurant, a real hidden gem! The food is excellent, and the decor and ambiance are nothing short of amazing. I love the rough-cut stone tables set on logs, fascinating light fixtures, and authentic, antique Japanese decorations on the walls. They serve great noodle dishes at a reasonable price, and the wait staff are very knowledgeable about the menu. Beer selection is somewhat limited, unless you like Sapporo for some strange reason, but thats too be expected at a Japanese restaurant. Im looking forward to going back so I can eat outside in their impressive garden!

Comment: Domo offers a really magical dining experience that feels like youve been transported out of Colorado and into Japan itself. The atmosphere feels authentic and ancient and the Northern country-style food is not what you commonly find in other Japanese cuisines. Lunch options are vast and very reasonably priced ... especially considering the portion size which is quite generous. The photos here show the incredibly delicious kara-age spicy ramen bowl with fixings, salmon teriyaki donburi, and hot matcha tea which comes with mini cup of soy milk and a little mochi! You can also explore the traditional Japanese garden and go into the mini museum or observe an aikido lesson that may be in session at the adjoining dojo.

Comment: What a cool restaurant! Food was great and less $$ than I initially thought it would be. Much larger portions than I anticipated, also. Upon arrival, the host asked if we had any food allergies, which I thought was a nice touch. They have a garden with Buddhist shrines and a dojo and a museum as well.

Comment: Probably the best just Japanese fare in all of the Mile High City, with an accompanyingly authentic and aesthetic ambiance to boot. Just dont think that youre able to go in there and customize your dish to your hearts content, as the chefs are very firm on making them and serving them the way that they intended from the beginning

Comment: We loved this place for lunch! The atmosphere walking up to the restaurant says that you will be having a unique experience. Once inside that feeling continues to deliver! It feels like youre walking into a vacation to Japan. The food is an incredible mix of Raman noodles, various broths each made in a traditional manner leading to lots of various flavors. We all enjoyed our meals immensely. Note that because of the extremely traditional nature of the menu there are no vegetarian options or the ability to meet any strict dietary restrictions. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. Outside it looks like a Japanese garden. Inside it has a warm earthy feeling. We will come back again!

Comment: Love this place. Foods, atmosphere, culture pretty much everything only except two of their tables inside. The first time we visited, all the tables were so full so they seated us at that table which is kinda like continues table with the other guests but lower. I dont know what about the other people what they think of sitting right next to the strangers but your table is lower than them 🙄 They have two of them and I hated it so much. We just left as soon as I found out that table and we didnt have no choice but leaving. I have no idea if it is part of Japanese style or for the families with kids but I hated it. We went into this place another time but early (as soon as the open for the dinner ) so, we didnt get to be seated at that low tables. Overall, we enjoyed it !

Comment: Tried this place for the first time last night, after hearing so many good things about it for so long. Went for our anniversary dinner and it was amazing. Some of the best food I have ever tasted. The country side dishes they serve are amazing. Sushi was delicious and such a reasonable portion. Ambience is great. Beautiful lighting and music, very quiet and relaxing. Great service, staff was friendly, and tables were cleared&cleaned quickly. I laugh even harder at the bad reviews toward this restaurant now. People in Denver are really petty nowadays. Check this place out.

Comment: Amazing hidden garden/patio in the back. Little slice of Japan in CO. Take some time and check out the attached museum and dojo. Really cool! Food was excellent. The unagi udon soup was mind blowing. The seafood and coconut ramen was excellent, really good broth. The curry ramen wasnt my favorite but still decent. Would come back in a heartbeat for the other two.

Comment: This place always hits home if you want authentic Japanese food. I still have not found a better ramen option in many attempts at other well known eateries. The atmosphere makes me feel like I am sitting in a Japanese country side restaurant. I learned to use chopsticks quite well since the first time I have been here,. I try my best since I dont want to ask for a fork :)Every time I am in Denver, I must always come here.
