Comment: We were celebrating with dear friends . We have been there several times over past 10 years . Not regulars but have came back . Its a neat place to go but I felt disappointed as a part of the guests. Floor had crumbs that was very visible which in my opinion was there for a while . Secondly the chef had to clean the grill before he cooked which I commend him for ! Apparently had been left from the night before . Low on staff because well you know many dont want to work . I again commend the two men that waited on us . Food was very good . I cant tell you how many restaurants have been totally fifty to walk into in other cities . And I give Kitano is rated higher. I would say they could of been more friendly in my opinion. But overall pretty decent .

Comment: Hibachi stir fry is really good here. I’m use to mushrooms in the veggies which wasn’t included. Not impressed with the sushi. Much better options elsewhere. It’s a great and entertaining dining experience with high quality food to choose from. This would be a five star restaurant if the sushi rice was softer and served more wasbi with sushi orders. They also don’t have spicy yum yum sauce. The ginger salad and soup is excellent!

Comment: This place is worlds apart from when wefirst started eating here. We were told 1 hour to wait for a teppan table and the ones getting seated were only half full, their bento boxes have been cut in half as far as ingredients go but you still pay full price, steak was tough, chicken was dry, fried rice tasted store bought. Spicy tuna rolls had no flavor, how does that happen unless its been frozen for days and thawed out for service. One of the few decent restaurants in the area is circling the drain it feels like, what a shame.

Comment: Best Sushi rolls Ive had in quite a while. The atmosphere, menu selections, and service was all outstanding. Hubby and I were in the area for medical appointments and wanted something Asian for dinner. So glad we decided on KiTARO. Appetizer of crab rangoons, which were so flavorful, followed by the rolls. Wonderful!! We hit at the right time and there was no waiting. Highly recommend.

Working two jobs to get ahead before he takes on the bigger challenges in life. I was really impressed by his story. Come enjoy the food. I like this steakhouse better than Kyoto’s Japanese Streak House in St. Charles. KiTaro’s is more modern, cleaner, and a much nicer atmosphere. Don’t go there. Come to O’Fallon for KiTaro’s. You won’t be disappointed.

There are 6 stations that are fairly close together, seating is tight.The experience is fun and does go pretty quick. The food was tasty, prices were a little high for what you get. The main course included grilled vegetables, a protein choice of lobster pricey chicken, steak, fish, salmon or scallops rice w eggs and noodles. Expect left overs to take home. Comment: Went out to celebrate a birthday dinner this week. This used to be a favorite restaurant of ours years back, but the major decline in cleanliness a year+ back caused us to try other places. We have tried every other hibachi restaurant in St. Charles and West County, but none hit the spot. Decided to give Kitaro a second chance this week - so glad we did! The restaurant (and bathrooms) were clean, the seating was quick (came around 5:30 with a group of 10). The drink service was good, but the hibachi was outstanding! It tasted so delicious, portions were large, and it was cooked to perfection- we were fighting over the leftovers the next day. But the best of all was the hibachi chef, Josh. He was not only entertaining, did some original things, payed close attention to our group and their needs (refills on sauce and even drinks). He read the group so well, that we all had a blast. Our kids are begging to go back they had so much fun (and they have eaten a lot of hibachi before and never had this much fun). Josh is an excellent chef and we will definitely be requesting him again!

The geisha martini had a good tropical flavor.We place seemed clean and the service was friendly. We were there at lunch time on a Saturday and the hibachi table was going to be a 45 minute wait, so we passed on that and were seated in the dining area.

The only thing keeping my rating from 5 star is consistency.Sometimes the food is 5-stars (perfectly seared medium rare tuna, tender chicken and steak) and the hibachi cook is funny and very entertaining.Other times, the food is ok (over cooked meat, undercooked veggies and seasoning is off on rice), but hey they serve like 20 people at once and the food has never been bad.The wait can be a bit long and the seating around the grill a bit tight sometimes, but overall its a great place with affordable lunch combos during the weekdays.I think their most consistent proteins at the habachi are tuna and shrimp.

Few things to keep in mind, don’t be in a hurry, we had to wait about 20 min for a table, then probably another 20ish min for them to cook in front of us. I didn’t expect this but I can understand why. When they started cooking the chef was very skilled and he was quite the entertainer! I didn’t think going out to eat could actually end up being a show but it was very cool, probably the coolest out to eat experience I’ve had in a long time. And the food was very good, i mean it was cooked right in front of me what else can I say? The price was fair considering all things, I have to say probably my new favorite place to eat.

Comment: Went for a birthday celebration. Hibachi table seats 12, which is what we had, but a little close. We had 4 kids. Server was great, chef was super fun, especially for the kids. They had a kids menu, but when cooking started the kids did share. Food was very good, prepared perfectly and huge portions. At the hibachi, you get soup, salad, noodles, fried rice and mixed vegetables with every meal. Just choose your protein. I think we brought home as much as we ate. They have 6 hibachi tables and area was understandably very loud. No conversations among diners, but interaction kept everyone entertained. Great for family/kids. Next time we go, we want to try dining room and sushi, which looked incredible, too.

Comment: To respond to someone’s question - they do offer carry out. We witnessed it tonight while waiting to be seated. Hibachi wait time was 30 min plus, so we decided to for dining, which had 20+ min wait. Surprised, we got seated within 10 min. Cory provided attentive service and helped us come up with “pink” sushi for our daughter.Few kids choices available, dessert and drinks menu. Delicious sushi rolls - I liked YoYo the most.Miso soup was slightly on salty side but I won’t take stars for that. Overall great experience and value. Hope to bring kids back for hibachi.

The Hibachi chefs are talented and entertaining. The serving staff is either consistently short on people or not scheduled properly. That being said their filet is absolutely amazing on the flat grill. So tender and flavorful. My girlfriend and I enjoy it everytime.

Comment: More often than not, the food and experience here has been very very good. They dont take reservations, fyi. I did run into an unfortunate situation planning a birthday party where rather than simply suggest our party of 10 be split into near tables, we were told an email conversation never happened and then, when shown, that it didnt specify the Bistro, which it did. As with any establishment, one sour employee need not ruin it, but if you contact them for plans, do be specific (and retain the exchange). The food and pleasant wait staff have always made repeat customers of those Ive introduced to Kitaro. Will be back.

The only reason I gave 4 stars is because we didnt get the sushi we ordered until after the Hibachi dinner was over. We planned on it for our appetizer. We were told there was only one person making the sushi. On a busy night like that, there should have been additional help. I do work in the industry, and know how hard it is to keep a full staff.

Comment: We always get the hibachi here. The food always has a great taste. The only real complaint that I have is one in our party is on a low carb diet and has asked twice for extra veggies instead of rice, but the cook always puts a normal single portion of veggies on their plate and they have to skip the rice and noodles still. Better communication in this area between the waiter and the cook would make it a 5 star experience.

Comment: If I had one last meal on this earth this would be what I asked for. We drive an hour to eat here. The waitress always remembers us and even remembers our drinks. The chef’s are fantastic, the servers are great, friendly AND attentive. The food here is absolutely amazing. Yum Yum sauce is to die for. We eat here every chance we get. Portions are great. Well worth every bit of money you pay.

Comment: Our server was great. The food was great. Only reason 4/5 stars was that the Hitachi cook didnt do was trick. There were 2 young kids at the table. An onion volcano would have been nice. The next table got all the tricks. Maybe next time?

Comment: 2nd time here. Always a wait. No reservations. That part doesnt bother me and is to be expected. 1st experience was superb! Chef was so amazing! Legit, the best that I have ever had. Food had great flavor. Perfectly cooked meat. Salad dressing is one of the best I have had. And the soup was too. Sushi is as well. Only complaint is the front desk and scheduling. I will still crave this place though; and WILL return. Best in town, for sure.

Comment: We had rolls and sides. The beverages were delicious! The rolls appeared were not done at the same time and two out of the four were left to sit? They just didn’t feel fresh and a bit hard to chew.

Comment: Have been to Kitaro several times. I have always done the hibachi so I cant speak to how the sushi is. The hibachi is always fun and the food portions are generous. The food is always consistently delicious, what kind of show you get depends on the chef. Some chefs do more tricks and engage with the patrons more, some chefs are probably newer and still honing their act. It is always an enjoyable experience and I always have plenty of food to take home.The service has always been attentive every time I have gone. The price is reasonable for the amount of food you get, the interaction with the chef, and the service and ambience.I still need to try the sushi.

Comment: We had priority seating ahead of time. Get there and told 45 minute wait. Been 45 still waiting. Would not recommend if you actually think priority seating means any thing. It was worth the weight. Food was great and had a great time.

Comment: Restaurant is a beautiful structure from the outside. Inside is nice as well. The service we had was great from both the cook and the waiter. The food was above average for what I would expect from a Japanese restaurant. I had the New York strip and the shrimp, which were both excellent. The salad and the soup were also good. We also ordered sake that came out piping hot. Great selection of drinks as well as food. Also our cook had a few new things I havent seen before at a Japanese restaurant!

Comment: Always great experience here. Some of the best sushi in St Louis area. Still not quite what you can find on the coast, but havent found better in area. Hibachi also works well for guests that dont like sushi. The steaks and scallops are my personal favorite there. Hibachi side does great job with entertainment as well. Kids always appreciate the shrimp tossed to people.

Comment: We ate at the hibachi side of the restaurant. The service was friendly and the sides start arriving immediately, so you never sit around waiting. Special mention should be made of the salad, which had a delicious creamy dressing. I have no idea what it was, but it was good.Our chef was very skilled, doing all the fun tricks and silly jokes you expect from the experience. The food was plentiful. Nobody was able to finish their portion, because theres so much. I got a combo, teriyaki chicken, steak, and shrimp. The steak was cooked to order, and came out tender and juicy. All of the food was delicious and well prepared. I would definitely go again.

Comment: The establishment is quite large offering many areas for different dining. The main dining rooms for the full menu, a sit down sushi bar to watch the chefs, the live hibachi tables for the fun experience and the bar for happy hour and drinks. They also have a large window and table up front for parties. I have done all but the bubchi at this point. All the food has been great to this point. So why four instead of five stars? They need some more vegetarian sushi options. Sure they can make any roll by taking the meat out. But the one vegetarian roll is not very appetizing and the others lack if you take the protein out.Otherwise we continue to xkme back often and it keeps a steady crowd

It is rare to get proper vegetarian food in a restaurant that serves meat . Comment: Highly recommended hibachi place. Very good for group outings. Your chef gives a personal touch and keeps the experience very entertaining. Do checkout for happy hour specials during weekdays. The place is usually crowded so make sure you book in advance or reach there early.All in all it’s a complete package of ambience, food and a fun experience.

Comment: Good place. Open til late. The sashimi is pretty good. The atmosphere is pretty chain looking, so it takes away from a level of authenticity.
