The waiter was very friendly, helpful, and efficient-The food was really good! I really enjoyed the sushi roll, it was very fresh. I added spicy Mayo to my rollsCons:-The paper plates & plastic utensils. It made it very hard to eat the sushi in one piece because the rice kept sticking to the plate. Considering the sushi rolls average around $10 each it should be plated on a real plate.

Comment: As some background, my wife and I have lived in many places that have very fresh Sushi. We have been to places in the Midwest and typically enjoy the food and atmosphere but no sushi restaurant has really knocked our socks off. Additionally, we haven’t been pickup customers normally.We ordered pickup from Sushi Sen a couple weeks back. We ordered the Vegas Roll and the Sunset Roll.1) It was ready in 10 minutes2) It was by far, the best sushi I have ever had. The sushi was very tender and the flavor was vibrant.And this was a pickup order (I don’t think sushi travels in the car very well).I wholeheartedly recommend this place. We will continue to eat here and I look forward to dining in.

However, the rolls and nigiri we got were excellent! It took a little while, but the wait for the sushi to go wasnt unreasonable. And, there is a great little veterans park across the street where we were able to enjoy our meal with our dog. So glad we stopped in!

Comment: The only place in STL area with the quality youd get in Japan or the US coast. Miso soup absolutely perfect and made from scratch. Even the salads are not from bags. He gets the fish fresh every morning, and the sashimi slices are quite tender, plentiful, and never with a fishy old taste. He is a master. Well worth the drive to taste one of 2 real Japanese trained sushi chefs in the STL area. The only problem is that everywhere else is a disappointment, now!

Being a japanese food lover, ordered Sashimi Moriawase (fresh and high quality), Spider Roll (soft shell crab) and Unagi Don (smoked eel). Very friendly customer service, comfortable booth seats available, and based on these dishes, excellent chef and kitchen staff. Would recommend this place and will return again!

I orddered the Philadelphia, Jurassic park and Eel. The only thing I would suggest is some interaction from the chef. It was overall a great experience.

Sushi chef Kenji Nonaka ( call him Kenji-san ) has undergone in Japan all steps to become a real sushi-man and he lives up to the expectation to its tradition and to disseminate his art in this Lake St. Louis restaurant. The service can be slow when busy—small things are forgotten or items come out of order but the food always makes up for it and no big issues have ever come up. Out of the 10 times Ive been there only twice has it been busy enough to affect service.
